Is Medical Marijuana Legal?

Sometimes this can get confusing.

On one hand, the state of Ohio has made medical marijuana legal in Ohio. However, under federal law, it is still illegal to have, possess or use marijuana for either medical or recreational use.

This is why the dispensaries will only take cash for purchases. Using the banking system like credit cards or debit cards is using the Federal infrastructure, which states that any use of marijuana is illegal. Therefore crossing state lines with marijuana also is illegal.

Over half of this states in the US support some form of marijuana, either medical or recreational. The state of Ohio is trying to collect enough signatures to put on the fall 2020 ballot the legalization of recreational marijuana.
